TENSION
Discomfort Intelligence.
Important leadership moments are often the hardest to recognize. We help leaders, teams and organizations notice the signals others overlook, understand what tension may be revealing, and respond to what the situation actually requires, rather than simply making the discomfort disappear.
The goal isn’t to eliminate tension. It’s to work with it intelligently.
Discomfort Intelligence is the ability to recognize tension as information, understand what it is signalling, and respond to it deliberately rather than reflexively.
Discomfort often appears before we fully understand what is happening. It can signal disagreement, uncertainty, an untested assumption, competing priorities, or something important that has not yet been said. Yet our instinct is often to resolve, avoid or smooth over the discomfort before we understand it. Discomfort Intelligence helps us stay curious long enough to distinguish what the situation is actually asking of us.
How effectively do you and your organization work with discomfort?
